Workplace, by Facebook (formerly known as Facebook at Work) is launched October 10 and will be available to any organization who wants access. Organizations will apply through the Workplace website and will be connected to a member of the Workplace team, according to a statement from the social network company.
IT NEWS NIGERIA gathered that Workplace by Facebook is the business version of Facebook that allows companies to build more productive, efficient and collaborative workplaces. It is easy-to-use, secure and available on desktop and mobile devices.
According to Facebook, the platform helps organizations collaborate better and makes it easier to get things done, all while using familiar Facebook features like News Feed, Groups, Chat, Live Video and more, and is mobile-first, so employees can use it to work with their colleagues from anywhere in the world.
“More than 1,000 organizations are using Workplace worldwide, on every continent except Antarctica, and more than 100,000 groups already in use. Top 5 countries using Workplace are India, Norway, US, UK and France. Workplace fulfills a key gap in the market – for people who don’t work at offices or at desks. These are retail workers, ship crews, baristas – all of whom did not have access to traditional workplace tools, but because our product is mobile – are driving adoption.”
With today’s announcement, Facebook is also sharing a few other new exciting updates: Competitive Pricing. Facebook is announcing a competitive pricing model that is based on a monthly fee per active user, so companies only pay for what they use. “The more active users an organization has, the less they pay per user. $3 for first 1,000 monthly active users; $2 for 1,001 – 10,000 monthly active users; and $1 10,000+ monthly active users.”
As regards Product enhancement Facebook added significant number of features over the last 18 months including Multi-company Groups, Live, Reactions, Auto-translate, Video and group audio calling in Work Chat, Trending posts, Search filters and others
Multi-Company Groups: These are shared groups that allow employees from multiple organizations to work together. All group members must be part of a Workplace community, and members from other companies won’t be able to see any information from your company outside of the multi-company groups they are in with you.
The Workplace Partner Program: This is a global ecosystem of partners, like Deloitte or Microsoft, to help customers get the most out of their Workplace.
Founded in 2004, Facebook has 1.04 billion daily active users on average worldwide and 7.2 million daily visitors from Nigeria.
