NiRA Records 27% Increase Domain Name Registration In January

Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA) has recorded 27% increase in the number of domain names registered in the month of January 2017.
According to the Association’s monthly information data forwarded to IT NEWS NIGERIA, it said within the week that it put together a total of 5,574 Domain names and renewals last month.

Our Correspondent also gathered that the figures are looking better than December 2016 of 4, 381 and even more than the January 2015 figures of 2,571.

‘More and more .ng domain names are being registered and actively used on the Internet for businesses, blogging, etc. We are indeed looking forward to an interesting year,’’ NiRA stated in its monthly release.
The .ng string is a critical National resource and Nigeria’s unique identity on the world wide web. NiRA, as an industry-led stakeholder organisation, is the registry for Nigerian Internet Domain Names (.ng), and maintains the database of the names registered in the .ng country code Top Level Domain ( ccTLD) name space in the interest of Nigerians and the global internet community.
