The Executive Vice Chairman (EVC) of Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Prof. Umar Danbatta has revealed that the country achieved 33% broadband penetration as at the end of February this year.
Danbatta was speaking in Abuja Thursday when the Executive Management of Bharti Airtel Group paid a courtesy visit to the Commission.
“Nigeria already achieved 33% broadband penetration as at February 2019 and stated that these feats were possible because of the efforts of stakeholders, including Airtel Group and other network providers that invested in massive expansion programmes across Nigeria, he said.”
The EVC recalled efforts made by Nigeria to achieve and exceed the 2018 target of 30% broadband penetration
The Executive Management of Bharti Airtel Group was led by Rughunath Mandava, CEO of Bharti Airtel Limited.

Danbatta thanked Mandava and Bharti Airtel for making the time to visit the Commission.
Prof. Danbatta said a new target is yet to be set but he assured his visitors that NCC and the Federal Ministry of Communications will set a much higher broadband penetration target in the next couple of years.
