All is set for this year’s Food and Drink Festival organised by Guaranty Trust Bank (Gtbank), showcasing 300 food entrepreneurs and will run for four days this year.

Managing Director of the bank, Segun Agbaje, disclosed this yesterday at a press conference held in Lagos.

Launched in 2016, the initiative has become a premier culinary event in Africa, bringing together thousands of people from across the continent and beyond, to support and celebrate Nigeria’s vibrant and burgeoning small businesses in the food retail sector. Over the last three years, the festival has hosted more than 450,000 people, featured dozens of entrepreneurial master classes by international chefs and food experts.  The festival has also seen to the establishment of businesses of hundreds of entrepreneurs in the food retail industry.

Agbaje noted that in addition to more retailers the event would accommodate this year, it would also last for four days rather than the usual three days. This year will have two sets with two days each, a working and non-working day and will accommodate 300 businesses over the course of the four days and would feature 15 master classes, covering cooking, pastry, food photography, mixology and audience cooking classes.

The fair will kick off tomorrow with master classes starting from 2p.m while Monday and Tuesday’s classes start at 5p.m and Wednesday’s classes starting at noon. Renowned food and drink experts from around the world would facilitate the master classes, which require participants to register online. In addition, there will be a farmers’ market selling fresh, organic produce as well as the finest street foods. In line with its family theme, the event will feature exciting games and fun exercises designed to thrill and entertain children.
