IT News Nigeria:
National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) registration racketeer hits N5000 per person and JAMB applicants call for waiver to enable them enroll for the university entrance exams.
Today NIMC came under heavy criticism at its Twitter handle, @nimc_ng , by Twitter users, after they discovered that there huge extortion racket at the commission’s Ibeju-Lekki office and across centres.
A user, for example explained via her Twitter handle how NIMC officials extorted N5000 from UTME applicants before registration for the National Identification Number (NIN).
Recall, a statement released in 2019 by the commission and the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB); announced that the NIN is a compulsory requirement for all applicants. NIMC DG, Aliyu Aziz said the enforcement of the mandatory use of the NIN is congruent with the NIMC Act of 2007.
But this enforcement has turn to be Nigeria’s biggest registration racketeer as revealed by peoples’ comment on social media:

The anger and outcry is endless and they have call for waiver to them enroll for Jamb.
Recall, JAMB board has fixed this year’s examination for March 14 to April 4, while an optional mock examination for candidates is scheduled for Feb. 18. Similarly, the board had said that it would commence the sales of its registration documents from Monday, Jan. 13, to Monday, Feb. 17.
Most students cannot register before that time.
