Unruly and disrespectful: Video showing Minister Pantami Twice Interrupting NCC’s Danbatta before Mr President emerges

IT News Nigeria:

A VIDEO  has emerged across the social media showing how, in crass disrespect to the office and the laws establishing the nation’s telecoms watchdog, the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Ali Pantami twice interrupted the speech of Executive Vice Chairman and CEO of the Nigerian Communications Commission; Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta while pointing fingers at him at an event in Abuja yesterday.

Report has it that most shocking was the way and manner the minister was hushing Professor Danbatta while the humble man was delivering his speech was bad enough and in the presence President Mahamadu Buhari.

The army-style intimidation emanating from the Pantami not only embarrass and degrade the laws that established NCC but also a bad fate for the over $70 billion industry built on free market and robust regulation.

Describing the video, one Greg Ofor who was on ground yesterday wrote: “At a point, the minister took the microphone off the EVC’s mouth. As if that was not enough, he made the event a show of shame  and lack of respect for the office of the President of Nigeria. The Minister broke protocol three time whilst the President , Commander in Chief was seated, to stop the Executive Vice Chairman from reading his speech. He timed him the third time to a point where Professor Umar  Danbata  was to mention the achievements of the Commission – the ECC project, Pantami stopped him. This , it seems, a glimpse of  what he is planning against the EVC, as well as what is going to happen to NCC in the future. An unpalatable one.”
