The Executive Vice Chairman, Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Prof. Umar Danbatta has said the nation must be in place regulations to ensure digital ecosystem work in National Interests
He said this while speaking at the Virtual 3rd Discourse series of the Advocate Law Practice recently.
According to him, Nigeria can only harness the opportunities of the 4th Industrial Revolution as a nation if we put in place effective guiding frameworks, to address the various aspects of the digital ecosystem and ensure their effective interworking in the national interest.
Danbatta who was represented by the Executive Commissioner, Stakeholder Management, NCC, Barr. Adeleke Adewolu, spoke on the theme: Powering The Fourth Industrial Revolution In Nigeria”, adding, Nigeria is very ready to play a major role in that direction.
He noted that the ongoing trade war between China and the United States is a testament to this reality. “As African nations, we must strive to reposition our various economies for digital prosperity and abundance to drive efficiency, productivity and create jobs for the tsunami of our youth population to deploy their creative energy for African economic development.”, he said.
The Commission has significantly put in place critical policies and regulatory measures to launch the country into the new phase of the communication space, he said.
He note that Nigeria is not lacking in key Policy and Regulatory frameworks and instruments which will enable her to play a leading role in powering the 4th Industrial Revolution.
