Most expensive divorce: $127bn fortune up for sharing as Gates, Melinda part ways

Bill Gates, 65, and wife Melinda, 56, have revealed decision to divorce after 27 years together and building a $127 billion fortune, setting in motion one of the most expensive divorce in history.

The couple said in a post Monday that the decision to end their marriage came after a “great deal of thought and a lot of work” on their relationship.

They “raised three incredible children and built a foundation that works all over the world to enable all people to lead healthy, productive lives.” 

 “we no longer believe we can grow together as a couple in this next phase of our lives,” they said.

The couple married on the Hawaiian island of Lanai in 1994 with children Jennifer, 25, Rory, 21, and Phoebe, 18.
