Phone owners must adhere to importance tip if they must be able to seal their devices from all manners of hacking efforts.

1 Regularly update smartphone: Mobile devices are as secure as latest software and APPs. Out-of-date operating systems and APPs are very vulnerable to latest hacking tools. Sadly, a great number of phone owners would leave their phones for months without updates. They also do not see the need to buy enough data or connect to reliable WiFi to effect updates. It is worthy of note that most smartphones won’t activate updates without reliable internet access.

The solution is to connect phone to WiFi internet. In the absence of WiFi, adjust phone setting to enable updates via mobile date.

2. Change predictable default passcode: Phones generally come with simple, predictable default password like “1234,” “0000” and “2580”. Hackers take advantage of this vulnerabilities. It is strongly advised to change default codes to a personalized or customized ones.

Bluetooth: Avoid using unprotected Bluetooth networks and turn off your Bluetooth service when you aren’t using it.

3. Protect your PIN and Credit Card data. Use a protected app to store PIN numbers and credit cards, or better yet, don’t store them in your phone at all.
