Government has chartered Air Peace and Max Air to evacuates stranded Nigerians from Ukraine Neighbours, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In a press release at Abuja today Wednesday, March 2nd, 2022, it confirmed Air Peace and Max Air has been chartered to evacuate stranded Nigerians from neighboring countries to Ukraine.
According to the press release signed by Ambassador Gabriel Aduda, the Ministry confirmed from Nigerian embassies the records of evacuees. Hungary has 650 persons, Poland has 350 persons, Romania has 940 persons and Slovakia has 150 persons.
Air Peace enroute Poland has capacity to evacuate 364 persons, Air Peace enroute Hungary has 360 capacity, and Max Air enroute Romania with a capacity of 560 persons. The statement confirmed.
The first batch of evacuees are expected to arrive Nigeria on Thursday, March 3rd, 2022.
“ we assure Nigerians that we are working round the clock to see that our citizens are brought back home safely”. The statement added.
Recall, Nigeria has over 4,000 international students in Ukraine.
